Can I order any LCD with a touch panel?
Yes, it is possible to integrate a touch panel into any LCD technology. Resistive (RTP) and Capacitive(CTP) touch panels are standard for any TFT and kept in stock in AZ.
Touch panels are not standard on all other technologies such as: Character, Mono-graphic, Segment and UWVD, but can be added for a small tooling fee.
RTPs are the most popular TP for non-TFT displays since they have a lower unit cost, lower tooling fee and are easier to integrate.
What is the difference between RTP and CTP?
Resistive:
Single touch only, no pinch or scroll.
Do not require a separate controller.
Are pressure sensitive, that is, activated by any item/material such as a finger, pencil eraser or glove.
Reduces the brightness of the display by an estimated 5%.
Capacitive:
Allows multi touch to pinch and scroll.
Only activated by something with an inductive load such as a finger or stylus.
More expensive.
Requires a separate controller.
Does not reduce display brightness.
